Burnout in health professions

burnout syndrome (or simply burnout) is the result of a pathological process stressors that affect people who exercise helping professions (helping professions), if it do not respond adequately to the overload of stress that their work leads them to assume.
Burnout interested educators, practitioners , teachers, police, prisons police, firefighters, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists , social workers, health professionals (physiotherapists, speech therapists psychomotor) or are loaded from a dual source of stress : their personal stress and that of the person helped.
accomplishing work activities subject to an emotional charge so high, no longer able to separate personal life from work, you can run into the burnout, or a progressive deterioration of their vital energy to demotivation, frustration and depression. The abuse of alcohol, psychoactive substances and the risk of suicide increased in subjects suffering from burnout.
stages of this process are: 1) the idealistic enthusiasm that pushes the individual to choose a job type assistenziale.2) as the stagnation in which the subject, subjected to workloads and excessive stress, it starts to become account of how his expectations do not coincide with reality lavorativa.3) that the frustration in which the subject feels feelings of worthlessness and dissatisfaction with a trend away from work and often to take aggressive attitudes 4) one in which apathy takes over indifference to their work.
Obviously the factors that influence the emergence of this process are the working conditions in which the person carries on his profession, as well as a temperamental predisposition.
From personal experience I can say that in areas such as rehabilitation centers, private, managed mostly by contractors, so no part in health, the risk of burnout increases.
has undergone relentless pace of work, this time without pausing between therapy and the other, often forced to do overtime .... all according to the principle of quantity 'which unfortunately can never match the quality!
Our work is not a ending clock in order to turn.
The health professions are a high risk of burnout for the lack of reliable parameters to detect the effectiveness of its work, since it is based on the report and therefore there are no standardized tools for this purpose.
How to prevent this syndrome, how to defend ourselves? And 'unrealistic to think that something will change in the management of rehabilitation centers?
